He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil this is the gift of God.

This verse has been a deep encouragement to me during this season of life that feels so divided on so many levels. It’s good for me to remember that a day is coming, where everything will be set right, made beautiful again. AND, while I long for that future day when every tear will be wiped away, while we’re still here, there’s this solid dose of wisdom from this verse in Ecclesiastes...There’s nothing better than doing good, being happy, and finding satisfaction in all of our work. Just a friendly reminder to myself to do a little good in the world today...say a kind word, pay for someone’s meal, donate to a cause I love, pick up some trash, give a compliment, read a book that helps me understand someone else's' perspective, Also a friendly reminder that the work we do, whatever it is, can be a gift to us and to others, especially when we lead with gratitude and joy. I hope I’ll be marked by a hope that one day, everything will be made beautiful, and until that day comes, I hope to be the kind of person who does a lot of good, laughs loud, and works hard.
