My God, my God.
Why hast thou forsaken me?

Have you ever felt forsaken? Forgotten? Alone? When I read this verse, when I think about the fact that these are some of the last words that Jesus spoke before he died, I'm just undone. He was forsaken so we would never be. He took on every sin, every broken part of every story, every pain, every evil, every bitter pill, and descended to the gates of hell on our behalf. He's already been through every desolate place we'll ever be, and while we know what's coming with Easter... today we can rest assured that God is close to the brokenhearted. He descends into our private dilemmas and disasters with a love that meets us in the trenches of the battles we are losing and the dreams that got buried. Do you feel forsaken today? Take heart, you are not alone.
