“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
- John 1:14
I love this time of year. All the parties and the family gatherings. I am a 7 on the Enneagram and genuinely love all the social things that accompany this season. In the same breath, I know that this season can feel really hard and really lonely for people. Maybe this Christmas marks another year without someone you love, or it marks another Christmas gone by with hopes deferred and your heart feels sick. Then crashing into all of our hurt and ache and longing comes the cry of a baby, a God-man.
This verse. It’s the beginning of the most beautiful story I know. God wraps Himself in flesh and makes His dwelling among us. I think one of my most favorite things about the gospel story is that we are NEVER alone. God is in fact with us, and therefore we have good reason to rejoice. Great cause for hope. A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices. You are seen and loved and known by the One who made you. Here’s hoping I can lean into His love and rest in that beautiful truth that I will never face anything, even my darkest nights, alone.
