What beautiful news for us! The kingdom of heaven has come near. What exactly does this even mean? If you follow the life of Christ, you can trace the meaning. God didn’t stand at a distance while we made an absolute wreck of the earth and our lives. He wrapped Himself in flesh and entered into our mess. Jesus healed the sick, walked in grace and in truth and in obedience to the Father. He suffered. He ached. He wept, and ultimately He gave up his life and defeated death so we could all run into the embrace of a God who loves us and wants us to live life to the full both now and forever. I want to tell the story over and over again of how the kingdom of heaven has come near, and God... would you show me how to live in light of that truth? May I be a person who looks with open eyes for ways I can share that good news with my own forgetful heart and with the people around me, not just with my words but with the way that I live.
