Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.
- 2 Corinthians 1:3
This world can feel so heavy some days. Whether it’s the news channel telling countless tragic stories, or our own lives that are so often full of struggle, conflict, loss, doubt, loneliness, and desire unfulfilled, life can feel overwhelming.
I love that speaking right in the face of all of the pain and struggle and heartache that we so often experience is this declaration of truth: the One who made us is the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. That means there is no such thing as a tragedy He can’t console. There’s no such thing as a struggle He can’t strengthen us in. There’s no such thing as a conflict He can’t help us resolve. There’s no such thing as a loss He can’t comfort us through. There’s no such thing as a wound He cannot heal.
Lord, help us remember today that when our hearts are weighed down, we can run fast toward Your comfort, enjoying Your tender care and consolation.
