“A new command I give you; Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
-John 13:34-35
Jesus is telling his disciples that he will only be with them a little longer, and he leaves them with this beautiful command. Love. Love “as I have loved you.” There are so many days that I tend to overcomplicate things. Our culture feels very divided and angry right now, and I am wanting to ask myself this question in every scenario... how can I love here... even if we disagree, even if we look at the world so differently?
I don’t know how to love well in these places of tension especially, but I think it might start with more listening. I love that Jesus didn’t say, “Convince everyone that I am real! Beat it over their heads.” He said, “love one another." Lord, would you help me to be a person marked by Your love and truth, and would you teach me how to love more like You love all of us?
